The Commissioners are answerable to and, report directly to the Minister for Civil Aviation, which consists of three members that form the Board of Accident Investigation Commission. The Chief Commissioner is the Chairman of the Board during all its meetings. Under the enabling legislation, the principal function of the Commission is the investigation of, but not limited to aviation accidents and serious incidents, through the Chief Executive Officer who manages the day to day activities of the Commission and personnel.
